Kelsey Bennett started developing photographs in the dark room at the age of 12.  At 16 she studied at The School of Visual Arts for Photo and upon graduating high School she attended Parsons School of Design.  In 2005, she moved to Cambridge Massachusetts where she got her first job as a photographer at an arts and entertainment paper called The Weekly Dig.  The Photo Editor was looking for cover images, which could stand on their own as works of art separate from the contents of the issue.  Kelsey’s photos were perfect for this concept.  To date she has had six covers with The Dig.  The cover shot, which Bennett became most known for was of male Red Sox and Yankees fans in uniform, kissing in front of Fenway stadium.  The staged photograph attracted attention from the media and stirred up controversy, some venders in South Boston even refused to sell the issue.  Still living in Boston, Kelsey commuted to New York to intern for photographers, Danielle Levitt and Annie Leibovitz

Upon returning to New York, In 2010 Bennett had her first solo exhibition, Hypnogogia, with The Christopher Henry Gallery.  Since then she has shown with Gawker Artists, a solo show, entitled On The Lam.  Her work has been featured at The Lu Magnus Gallery, Scope Art Fair in Florida, and Fountain Art Fair in New York.  Kelsey is looking forward to her second exhibition with the Christopher Henry Gallery (July 2011), which will feature Black Velvet: The Godfather of Soul, the story of a James Brown impersonator.

Currently, Kelsey is working with her grandfather, singer Tony Bennett for his upcoming album, Duets II.  For this project she has traveled the world photographing legends such as KD Lang, Amy Winehouse, Willie Nelson, and of course Tony Bennett himself.  When not on the road with her camera Kelsey works as a baby photographer on the maternity ward.  Bennett brings her own camera into the hospital and is developing a series, focused on the individual families and worlds each baby is born into.  Another project Kelsey is involved in is called El Camino ARTRV.  Starting the Summer of 2011,  El Camino will be hitting the streets of NYC hosting art happenings and curated spectacles out of an RV.
